About shadedesign®

Our story

shadedesign® is based in Palamós, in the heart of the Costa Brava, and starts from a simple idea: shade sails are one of the most effective and beautiful ways to protect yourself from the sun. For 20 years we have been designing, handcrafting and installing shade sails for homes, businesses, campsites, schools and public spaces.

The company’s founder and director is Bas Van Gelder. Our way of working is based on a method proven in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, where sun protection is not a luxury but a necessity.

How we work

We love visiting a home, a school, a campsite or a nursery and designing the shade people need. We enjoy turning every idea into a well-finished structure that delivers the shade it promised, with three priorities:

• Aesthetics: sails that enhance the space and suit their surroundings.
• Function: shade where it is needed, breathable fabrics and real UV protection.
• Safety: calculated anchor points, durable materials and technical projects signed by architects.

We install with our own team or certified partners, and we stay with our clients after installation with annual maintenance.

What our clients say

Our clients rate us 4.9 out of 5 on Google. They highlight our professionalism, the advice we give and the quality of the materials, and several mention Bas by name. You can read their reviews (in Spanish) on our home page.
